A person experiencing homelessness was able to make it inside Stagg High by jumping the fence by the football and track field Monday around 1:15 p.m., a spokesperson with the school district said. A coach called the Department of Public Safety, and the school district said the man was escorted off campus within minutes.

"We are told the man apologized and said he was just trying to get some shade to cool off," the school district said in a statement. "There is zero tolerance for trespassers. Zero tolerance."

The school district said more campus security monitors and extra support were provided by Interim Superintendent Traci Miller.

Stagg High's security was questioned after a man in mid-April stabbed and killed 15-year-old Alycia Reynaga. The Stockton Police Department said 52-year-old Anthony Gray drove to the front parking lot of the school and parked his vehicle. He then walked inside the campus, where he attacked the teen.

Since then, the school district said it has improved security measures to prevent anyone from intruding again.
