The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Española Police officers, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies or State Police responded to the following calls:

  5:10 a.m. A Burger King employee reported food is thrown all over and the drive thru window is open.

  5:26 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man passed out in a car on Calle Redonda.

  12:36 p.m. A Holy Cross Church caller reported finding a catalytic converter in a gym bag near the entrance to the church.

  1:53 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman who crawled into the donation box near Pet Sense.

  1:57 p.m. A truck rolled backward and into a car at the intersection of Fairview Lane and North Riverside Drive.

  3:41 p.m. A Paleta Bar caller wants to speak with an officer regarding an inappropriate relationship an employee and another person are in.

  4:35 p.m. An El Llano Road caller said a woman is very drunk and the caller wants to speak with an officer. 

  5:09 p.m. A Park and Ride caller reported a vehicle was hit in the parking lot.

  5:12 p.m. A Center Market caller said a man is panhandling next to the front door and harassing customers.

  5:27 p.m. A South Orchard Lane caller reported a neighbor has been harassing her and threatening to rape and kill her.

  5:58 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man at the Fairview strip mall because he’s sitting up against the building and is passed out.

  7:01 p.m. A Camino Carlos caller wants to report child abuse. She said a man saw a picture of his son’s private parts on the mother’s phone and when he confronted her, she said it was a joke.

  8 p.m. A Cañada Court caller reported someone in a car fired a gun in the air.

  8:54 p.m. A Title Max caller said a man is yelling and screaming and trying to open the door.

  9:07 p.m. A Santa Clara Apartments caller reported he has COPD and people are smoking fentanyl in the hallways.

  9:11 p.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller said there are several teens in the parking lot, drinking and littering.

  10:45 p.m. A Lower San Pedro Road caller said a 42-year-old man is hearing voices.

  10:57 p.m. An Angel Duran Road caller reported a man tried to jump over her car.

  11:44 p.m. A caller said people were looking around the building and in the windows of the Santa Cruz Country Store.

Out of control at  Ohkay Casino

  10:55 a.m. A Walmart caller said there are no officers patrolling and homeless panhandlers are at the store, harassing everyone and asking for cash. The caller said something needs to be done. The caller was told that all the officers are out on calls and he should call the chief or major and complain.

  2:54 p.m. A Las Lomas Apartments caller said she got a call about a man smoking pills off a foil.

  4:28 p.m. A Center Market caller reported a man is at the door, asking for money.

  4:42 p.m. A Private Drive 1536 in Hernandez  caller said she had consensual sex with her friend’s adult son and now her friend is stalking her on social media and harassing her.

  4:46 p.m. A County Road 21 in Alcalde caller reported shooting himself in the jaw while cleaning his gun. 

  6:08 p.m. A Corlett Road caller said her catalytic converter was stolen.

  8:11 p.m. A CVS caller said a shirtless man with one shoe is yelling at the wall.

  8:29 p.m. A Calle Lopez caller reported a drunk man is at her house and she wants him removed.

  8:49 p.m. An Ohkay Express Mart caller said two younger boys were parked near the dumpsters, then left with backpacks, toward the airport.

  9:06 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man near Washington Federal, who has his legs in the roadway.

  9:07 p.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller said several vehicles are doing burnouts and donuts in the parking lot.

  9:21 p.m. An Allsup's caller reported a man is sleeping in the ice chest.

  9:25 p.m. A caller said two people are pulling on the door and looking in the windows at the Santa Cruz Country Store.

You’ll shoot your  eye out

  1:34 a.m. A Santa Clara Apartments caller said there are people in the hallways who don’t live there, harassing other people.

  6:14 a.m. A South McCurdy Road caller said a truck is parked in front of his house and it appears a female is using the restroom. He called back and said he’s going to reverse into the truck because law enforcement isn’t there yet.

  8:23 a.m. A Lotaburger caller reported a man is bothering customers near the entrance.

  10:15 a.m. A Lovin’ Oven caller reported a teen boy drove by and shot at the movie production crew with an Air Soft gun.

  10:56 a.m. A Lower San Pedro Road caller reported a person drove by and shot at the movie production crew with an Air Soft gun and someone was hit in the eye.

  12:10 p.m. A Calle del Rio caller reported a man is harassing her and hit her over the head.

  12:35 p.m. An Española Pathways Shelter caller said a man is yelling at staff and making a scene. If located, they want him trespassed.

  12:43 p.m. A County Road 93 in Chimayó caller reported a trespasser who’s either drunk or on drugs.

  1:23 p.m. A Vista del Rio Apartments caller said her apartment was broken into.

  1:32 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman sleeping near the air machine at Speedway.

  1:48 a.m. A VA Clinic caller said the alarm went off on Saturday and when employees got there, there was a naked man lying in the back of the building.

  2:07 p.m. An officer responded to a call for assistance on the  movie set at North Paseo de Oñate.

  2:16 p.m. A Lotaburger caller said a man is inside the restaurant, asking people for money.

  3:24 p.m. A Lotaburger caller reported a man is outside, cussing at customers, yelling and walking around the parking lot.

  3:32 p.m. A Santa Clara Apartments caller said a man with a gun is outside.

  3:50 p.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller said the neighbor is throwing things across the fence. He said it happens every night; the neighbor is up and down and throwing rocks.

  4:44 p.m. An officer stopped to check on a woman standing in the middle of the road near H&A Automotive.

  9:45 p.m. A 420 Emporia caller reported six people are loitering and they want them dispersed.

  10:05 p.m. A Calle Chacoma Vista caller said someone knew the code to the door, unlocked it, entered the house and took most of his son’s stuff.

  10:19 p.m. A Speedway caller said a woman pushing a cart is hiding behind the building and when she comes to the front, she starts throwing rocks.

  10:43 p.m. A Calle Josefita caller reported a FedEx package was left and someone stole it. She wants to file a report.

  11:26 p.m A State Road 581 caller reported someone hit a gas meter and left.

  1:52 a.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller said kids keep walking around his truck, which is parked in back.

  9:04 a.m. A North Riverside Drive caller said the neighbor killed another neighbor’s dog and has been killing her cats.

  9:20 a.m. An Ohkay Casino caller reported a man and woman are in a truck and possibly drunk.

  10:16 a.m. A Los Alamos caller phoned the Española Police Department and said they needed to report a stolen debit card. They said the bank needs a police report number and the name of an officer so they can file a dispute over a transaction made in Española, on the stolen card.

  10:26 a.m. A man walked into the Española Police Department to report a stolen bike.

  1:38 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man at Fairview Lane and North Riverside Drive because he got run over by a car, then kept walking toward Sonic.

  2:07 p.m. A Calle Don Miguel caller said several gunshots were heard in the area and shrapnel is landing on her property.

  3:27 p.m. A Pizza Hut caller wants to report his brother, named Max, is stalking him and making the voices tell him that he is Max.

  3:27 p.m. A Walmart caller said a girl that looks to be underage is with two older men at the intersection near Walmart and they’re panhandling. The caller thinks they’re engaged in human trafficking.

  3:29 p.m. A Pueblo del Norte Insurance Agency reported people are smoking drugs in front of the business and refusing to leave.

  3:48 p.m. Someone went to the Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Office to file a report for a stolen poly cart.

  5:10 p.m. A Desert Sun Motors caller said a catalytic converter was stolen from a 2021 Dodge Charger.

  5:22 p.m. A Food King caller reported seeing his niece’s stolen bicycle at the Santa Clara Apartments.

  5:43 p.m A Tsigo Bugeh Road caller said two people are screaming at each other.

  6:12 p.m. A Wendy’s caller reported a man is harassing him.

  8:33 p.m. A Dollar Tree in Española caller said a man pushing a basket full of things was asking the caller if he wanted to buy stuff. When the caller said no, the man got mad and started hitting the caller’s car.

  9:33 p.m. A Walgreens caller reported a robbery.

  10:43 p.m. A 420 Emporia caller said a woman is being chased by a man, who might still be outside.

  11:34 a.m. A Calle Valdez caller said a car was broken into and the ignition was damaged and some prescription drugs were stolen.

  11:57 a.m. A Freddy’s Frozen Custard caller said a man with a shopping cart was harassing customers for money.

  12:15 p.m. A Walmart caller reported a woman and two men are panhandling and the caller wants them dispersed.

  1:03 p.m. A La Joya Street caller said she got a call from someone claiming to be from Walmart. The person claimed she bought something from Apple and she gave them her bank information and bought two gift cards for $500.

  1:43 p.m. A North Riverside Drive caller said a real estate agent went to show a house but found people inside.

  2:10 p.m. A South Orchard Lane caller reported a woman brandished a gun and threatened to shoot the caller.

  3:15 p.m. A CVS caller said a woman she doesn’t know threatened to break her window. 

  4:19 p.m. An Ohkay Casino security guard called for an officer from the Ohkay Owingeh Police Department because a man is refusing to leave.

  4:43 p.m. A Murphy’s Express caller said a man is stealing items and yelling at everyone.

  5:16 p.m. A caller reported a 15-year-old Chama boy is throwing a tantrum and hit the caller’s husband in the back of the head.

  5:29 p.m. A second caller said the 15-year-old Chama boy from the previous call hit the grandfather, too.

  6:30 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man lying on the sidewalk at the RTD bus stop in front of Dairy Queen.

  7:12 p.m. A Work Force Solutions caller said a person is screaming from across the street.

  7:28 p.m. An East Calle Celestino caller reported a man fired a gun in the area and then walked down the road.

  9:52 p.m. An Ojo Sarco caller said his cousin has been destroying things at his house.

  9:54 p.m. A Robert Gallegos Drive in Chama caller reported a man has a cut on his head after a fight broke out.

  12:07 a.m. A Juan Medina Road caller reported 15 shots were fired in front of their house.

  3:59 a.m. A West Bond Street caller reported hearing shots coming from Calle Vigil.

  7:11 a.m. A Concentra caller said a man is yelling, screaming and throwing rocks at the door of the sports medicine office.

  8:27 a.m. A caller reported her 37-year-old son had a headache and was seen at the hospital. She said he left and is going to buy some form of medication from an unknown person. She wants an officer to speak with him and tell him not to do that.

  9:35 a.m. A State Road 76 caller reported two girls lost control of a vehicle and went into the neighbor’s yard.

  11:52 a.m. An Española Hospital caller reported a 17-year-old boy was discharged but the parent doesn’t want to sign off on the care plan or sign the discharge papers. The boy said his father kicked him out of the house and he’s been living on the streets for a while.

  11:52 a.m. A Kentucky Fried Chicken caller said a man is running after a woman in the parking lot and the woman has her hands up.

  12:20 p.m. A Domino’s Pizza caller reported a man is harassing an older man.

  12:35 p.m. A Walmart caller said two men are walking around asking for money and looking into vehicles.

  1:17 p.m. A caller reported he got lost while hiking in the Santa Fe National Forest. He said he has food and water and a battery charger for his phone.

  1:32 p.m. A North Yucca Street caller said a mentally unstable woman is crying and the caller can’t help her.

  2:07 p.m. A Walgreens caller reported he didn’t get his ID back when he filled a prescription and when he went back to get it, the staff members refused to give it to him.

  4:10 p.m. An Escondito Road and Alamo Road in Chama caller reported two men are fighting behind the baseball field.

  4:17 p.m. A Calle Delfina caller said his neighbor is throwing trash in his yard and he wants police to do courtesy rounds, in hopes that he’ll stop.

  5:14 p.m. A Murphy’s Express caller reported two men are doing a drug deal near the dumpsters.

  5:42 p.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller said they heard two or three gunshots and saw four people surrounding a house right before they heard the shots.

  12:05 a.m. A County Road 100 in Chimayó caller said several minors are fighting and a man has a gun.

  3:32 a.m. An East Hill Street caller reported hearing several shots and now vehicles are scattering from all over. The responding officer said he found a bunch of casings but no victims or anyone else.

  5:48 a.m. An Elk Horn Lodge in Chama caller reported a person is on the ground and yelling for help.

  8:27 a.m. A Las Lomas Apartments caller requested a welfare check on a man asleep in the grass.

  11:13 a.m. A Vista del Rio Apartments caller phoned 911 to say someone pulled the railing from one of the steps.

  1:36 p.m. A La Joya Street caller wants to speak with an officer to get advice on how to deal with a neighbor doing some “shady stuff.”

  1:40 p.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller wants to file a report because some chain link fencing was stolen. He said the thief tried to sell it back to the store.

  2:16 p.m. A Tesuque Drive caller phoned 911 and asked to speak with an officer. She said she’s recently tested positive for COVID and is supposed to quarantine but can’t go home because she’s in the middle of an eviction.

  2:33 p.m A Ziegler Street caller reported his 40-year-old son is acting crazy and the caller wants an officer to speak to the son. 

  5 p.m. A Walmart caller reported there’s a car seat in one of the carts in the parking lot. The caller wants an officer to check it out. The responding officer said it’s full of clothes.

  6:07 p.m. A Starlighter Loop caller wants courtesy rounds in the area behind Murphy’s, Rue 21 and Dollar Tree. They think if police are present, the people doing drugs will go away for a while.

  9:09 p.m. A Wendy’s caller reported a woman is passed out in a car in the drive-thru.

  9:58 p.m. A Dixon caller requested a welfare check on a woman walking in the road.
