We are writing in response to former mayor Bill Martin’s endorsement of an ANR (Approval Not Required) for the largest outdoor cannabis project in the state proposed for Country Club Road. Why should we be proud of imposing this eyesore on a residential community? What is being hidden behind the curtains is that this project requires, by law, an 8-foot security fence with razor wire, cameras and security lights. The reason of course … this is not farming. It is a commercial/industrial production of a controlled substance. The negative visual impact as well as the noxious odor from outdoor cultivation of marijuana/cannabis doesn’t belong in a residential area. Mr. Martin acting as a consultant for three out-of-state investors is trying to sell this project as farming. Try convincing the folks at Plantation Circle, Mchard acres, Brookside and the surrounding area. The last we heard you did not need a security fence for growing cucumbers, corn etc.
