Are your kids tired of their boring old stroller but not quite ready to walk everywhere on their own? Enter the wagon stroller. Unlike their single-use counterparts, a wagon stroller can usually be both pushed and pulled, making it easier to get over difficult terrain while still providing the safety that a stroller offers. Plus, with the added storage of a wagon, you and your kids can rejoice knowing that your day trips just got that much easier. Basically, a wagon stroller packs the size of a double stroller, vacation use of a lightweight stroller, all-terrain access of a jogging stroller and storage of a wagon in a single product. Some even come with car seat adapters to transform them into travel systems.

Whether you're looking for a wagon stroller for two, three or even four kids, an infant or older children, the perfect wagon stroller for your family is just a click away. The Good Housekeeping Institute constantly runs tests on baby items to find only the best car seats, crib mattresses, baby formula and any other baby product you can think of to make parenting a little easier. To help you find the best wagon stroller for your family's needs, our parenting product experts scoured the market to find the top contenders which we then tested with both experts and consumer testers for a variety of factors like maneuverability, ease of use on various terrains, comfort for both parents and kids and more.

Head to the end of this guide to find out more information on how to pick the right wagon stroller for you. Learn more about how we test and whether or not you even need a wagon stroller. If you're looking for something for everyday use, check out our favorite strollers in a variety of styles.

The Pivot Xplore almost does it all when it comes to wagon strollers. Its relatively compact size makes it suitable for travel, and while some storage space had to be sacrificed to keep it small, the added storage basket on the underside helps keep all your kids' essentials. The two canopies keep both kids in the shade while rolling around town, and the all-terrain wheels did better than most other wagon strollers in our testing on a large variety of surfaces. Though they didn't outclass our best all-terrain option when it comes to the most difficult terrains like super soft sand (check out that pick down below).

The footwell keeps dirty shoes away from where little ones sit (and likely eat!), which helps keep everyone clean and comfortable. Due to the size of this wagon stroller, pushing it around is more similar to walking with a regular stroller than most wagons, making it ideal for steering, turning and pushing. It's also great for maneuvering through narrow doorways and crowds. Rachel Rothman, Chief Technologist for Good Housekeeping, raves about not just the kid snack tray, but cupholders for both kids and parents (four in total)! She noted that it helps give little ones a bit more space to store their favorite munchies with sides for each rider. Easily add a car seat adapter or a toddler seat for added comfort for the whole family.

The Odyssey Stroll 'N Wagon is a bit more like a wagon than a stroller in terms of construction, which makes it great for trips to the park or around quaint town streets, but not so perfect if you're looking for something a little hardier for a beach outing. The full-coverage canopy helps keeps the sun off children's faces and the rear storage pouch and variety of other cupholders make it great for keeping track of all your most important items. With five-point safety harnesses and a rear foot brake, this wagon features your favorite safety aspects of a stroller with the fun and cargo capacity of a traditional wagon.

Once your kids outgrow sitting in it, the wagon is still great for carting around beach gear or picnic supplies. In our tests, we found the easy one-handed fold made it simple to turn your wagon stroller into a compact, portable item. It's self-standing and easy to store in the back of your car or in your garage on a rainy day.

If you're an adventurous family, the Veer cruiser stroller wagon could be a great option for your family, especially if looking for a beach wagon to cart around more than just your towels and sunscreen. This compact two-seater is a bit smaller than many other options making it ideal for navigating narrower areas and storing in the back of your car. While testing, Rothman loved that it folded relatively flat and was incredibly easy to slip in various cars' trunks (she also tests for the best Family Cars!). Plus, according to the brand this wagon can be gate checked at the airport like a regular stroller, so your fun doesn't have to end in a new city. Several testers noted they were in fact able to do this. We liked the addition of the accessories like the cupholder and snack tray that was easy to pop in and out when desired, and we recommend purchasing some of the add-on accessories like the retractable canopy or the misting fan that fits perfectly in the cupholder. Although you can purchase a car seat adapter to let your littlest ones in on the fun, since the wagon is so compact it only fits one car seat at a time. As of yet, we haven't found a terrain that this incredibly rugged wagon stroller can't handle, and particularly noticed that it has great beach wheels.

• Dimensions: 37 x 20 x 25 inches (closed - 37 x 20 x 14 inches) • Maximum Weight Capacity: 55 pounds per seat; 350 pounds cargo capacity • Wagon Stroller Weight: 32.5 pounds

There's a reason the WonderFold pops into your mind when you think "wagon stroller." This luxury four-seater has some of the highest weight limits out there, making it great for growing families, large groups of friends or older children. It's also available as a two-seater. Available in five different styles, the all-terrain wheels make it great for moving across different surfaces like gravel, grass, dirt and sand. The high seats with deep footwells keep your little ones from having to sit in the dirt they track in on the bottom of their shoes.

We appreciate the extensive storage options on all four sides of the wagon, easy self-standing fold, and full coverage canopy that keeps all four kids out of the beating sun. Since this wagon stroller is a quad, it's quite a bit bigger and heavier than many other options. While we found it relatively smooth and easy to steer, it's more difficult to load and unload into the back of a car and also can take up quite a bit of space.

This Jeep Wrangler stroller wagon will be the star of any day at the park. Use it as a wagon stroller to tote around a couple of little ones or as a plain old wagon to schlep around your gear. Our engineers appreciated that this wagon is designed for strength and stability with a large frame and sturdy materials. That means it is particularly great for large open areas like the zoo or walking down the street, but not so great for navigating narrow doorways or tight switchback corners. The inside of the wagon is spacious, and we loved the additional accessories like the detachable cooler bag, large storage pouches and parent cupholders. We also found that the canopy did a great job of keeping little ones in the shade, and the adjustable leatherette handlebars made navigation easy and were comfortable to hold.

Your littlest ones can join in on the fun when using this wagon stroller in car seat mode with the included car seat adapter that works with a variety of car seat brands. We were able to take this wagon stroller onto a variety of terrains from gravel to paved roads to sand. We noticed that while it moves exceptionally well on the sidewalk, the wheels don't take well to sand and work better when you lift the front end and pull it through the sand on the bigger rear wheels.

This is the travel-sized wagon that dreams are made of. Unlike many other wagon strollers that are bulky and heavy, this one from Joey can fit in the back of any car to add a little fun to your day trip. It's self-standing when folded and weighs just a little over 30 pounds without the fabric. While that's on the heavy side for a stroller, it's one of the lightest wagons you'll find on the market.

Our consumer testers loved the way the wagon looked and felt, commending its high quality and durable feel. We tested this wagon on sidewalks, gravel, dirt, grass and more, and while it wasn't always the easiest to steer, the all-terrain performance tires did in fact handle all terrains well and didn't have any trouble rolling over different textures. Due to its compact, lightweight size, there isn't as much storage as some of the larger options, but the wagon still manages to fit a child's tray, cupholder and storage basket. Plus, if you've got a really little one, Joey offers a car seat adapter that's compatible with a variety of car seats.

Keep in mind that our taller testers felt the handle was a bit short (so it's not great for those over 6 feet tall), and while the wagon stroller is meant for up to two children, it only comes with one canopy so you'll have to purchase the second one separately.

Just like the WonderFold, this wagon is great for growing families thanks to its four seats and large weight limit. Not only does it claim it can hold up to 300 pounds, but it also has enough storage to bring along snacks, toys, beach gear and more. It even has ventilated shoe storage and a cooler to keep your drinks chilled. Because it's a four-seater, it takes a bit more space when storing and rolling down the street. The raised seats are ideal for keeping kids clean from mud or sand tracked in on the bottom of their shoes, and the full canopy keeps everyone nice and cool in the shade. Each stroller wagon comes with a full coverage canopy with side curtains that are great for privacy for midday naps or diaper changes. The all-terrain wheels make it practical for a stroll along the beach, sidewalk, a grassy field or gravel park, plus the handle can be used to push or pull your little ones. This is the one wagon on this list we have yet to try, but we are getting our hands on the product soon and look forward to sharing more information.

The Good Housekeeping Institute's engineering and parenting pros have reviewed close to a dozen wagon strollers over the past two years using a combination of in-Lab and at-home tests with both expert and consumer reviewers. We perform tests to assess maneuverability, ease of pushing and pulling, stability, ease of getting kids in and out of the stroller, ergonomics for the parents pushing the stroller, storage space and more. To accomplish this, we push and pull the wagon strollers over varied terrain including pavement, grass, dirt, sand and gravel.

While a wagon stroller likely won't replace your everyday stroller of choice, there are a few reasons why you may choose to add one to your lineup. Aside from fitting more kids than most strollers (especially the four-seaters), wagon strollers are also great for hauling around games, toys, kid essentials and other items with their larger-than-average storage space. Plus, you don't have to worry about bringing along friends or cousins since there's usually an extra seat. Don't worry about your little ones growing out of them either. Most wagon strollers have large weight limits, and once your kids are walking you can use it as a traditional wagon to store your gear. But, likely the most important reason parents and kids like stroller wagons? They're fun! Switch up the usual stroller game with something a little more exciting to keep kids entertained while out and about. They're particularly great for families that love the great outdoors and plan on spending a lot of the time strolling around the park or hitting the beach. Plus, depending on if you're wagon stroller has a car seat adapter, you can get both little and big kids involved in the fun.

When it comes to picking the perfect wagon stroller for you, the Good Housekeeping Institute experts suggest considering some of the following features before choosing your perfect unit:

✔️ Safety: For safety reasons, it's always important to pay attention to a wagon stroller's maximum weight and height capacity. Don't put a newborn or child under 6 months in a wagon stroller that doesn't have a car seat adapter. A five-point harness system is more robust in terms of safety than a simple lap belt.

✔️ Adjustable handlebar: If you're looking for a wagon stroller for tall or short parents or guardians, a telescoping handlebar can be raised or lowered to varying heights.

✔️ Car seat adapters: Some wagon strollers include car seat adapters for younger children to enjoy the fun, some offer them as an add-on purchase and others aren't compatible at all. Make sure your wagon stroller of choice includes an adapter that works with your current car seat.

✔️ Large storage: This comes in handy for carrying your beach gear, kids' toys and favorite snacks. See how much storage the wagon has, plus any additional accessories like bins that can be added/removed.

✔️ Large canopy: You’ll want a well-designed canopy that will be large enough to cover as many kids as the wagon stroller can safely hold. Some models have separate ones that offer full coverage for each child as desired.

✔️ All-terrain wheels: If you're in the market for a wagon stroller, you're likely going to be rolling it over a variety of surfaces from pavement and grass to sand and gravel. While difficult to assess without trialing, you also want an option with a robust suspension system to help on rough terrain.

✔️ Size: Larger wagon strollers that can hold up to four kids are great for growing families or older children, while smaller two-seaters will be easier to maneuver through narrower areas.
