Israeli man climbing fence sets off security alarms in West Bank settlement | The Times of Israel

A Jewish Israeli man climbing over a fence at the settlement of Beit Horon set off security alarms and fears of a possible infiltration attack on Thursday.

The alarms at the settlement on the outskirts of Jerusalem prompted an IDF investigation, and the army’s Home Front Command instructed residents to lock themselves indoors.

An all-clear was given soon after.

“After a sweep of the area, there is no fear of a security incident,” the IDF said.

It was not immediately clear why the man climbed the security fence.

The incident came as US President Joe Biden visits Jerusalem, and ahead of his trip to the West Bank to meet with the Palestinian leadership.

The president’s trip involved heavy security preparations and reported warnings to Palestinian terror groups that any escalation would be dealt with harshly.
