U.S. Bank Stadium, t he home of the Minnesota Vikings, is in the works to receive a major outdoor fence following a Thursday vote by the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority.

"By entering into an agreement for these professional services, the MSFA intends to further explore specific concepts and estimated costs of a permanent secured perimeter," a MFSA statement read.

"Goals for the potential perimeter project include enhanced public safety, preservation of public access, and inclusion of public art."

The fence is considered a priority by Vikings brass, who see it as an investment in fan safety, according to a report.

"It focuses on the security issue, while not losing the great iconic design, and beauty of U.S. Bank Stadium," Vice President of Public Affairs for the Minnesota Vikings Lester Bagley said.

The Vikings have sought a fence since the Department of Homeland Security recommended one in 2016, the report noted.

"Things evolve, conversations and work take time," Bagley said.

"There is a lot happening at the stadium, but it is time to move this forward, and we are thankful for MSFA doing so."

Exact funding for the fence and who will pay or it has yet to be confirmed.
